My Designations and Training

What do the letters after a REALTOR®’s name mean? They proudly show the designations a REALTOR® has earned to further their professional development. To earn a designation, a REALTOR® has taken coursework and demonstrated specific skills, performance and knowledge in a particular area of the real estate industry. To serve today’s consumers, REALTORS® need to be strong generalists and specialists. Designations are one way practitioners develop specialized skills that help the industry thrive. Designations also help practitioners demonstrate to their clients their commitment to professional development. The National Association of REALTORS® and its institutes, societies and councils offer the highest quality real estate education in the world.

The term REALTOR® is a registered collective membership mark that identifies a real estate professional who is a member of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION of REALTORS® and subscribes to its strict Code of Ethics. The Code establishes time-honored and baseline principles that come from the collective experiences of REALTORS® since the Code of Ethics was first established in 1913. Those principles can be loosely defined as: Loyalty to clients; Fiduciary (legal) duty to clients; Cooperation with competitors; Truthfulness in statements and advertising and non-interference in exclusive relationships that other REALTORS® have with their clients.

The Accredited Buyer’s Representative (ABR®) designation is the benchmark of excellence in buyer representation. This coveted designation is awarded by the Real Estate Buyer’s Agent Council (REBAC), an affiliate of the National Association of REALTORS®, to real estate practitioners who meet the specified educational and practical experience criteria. The Accredited Buyer’s Representative (ABR®) designation is designed for real estate buyer agents who focus on working directly with buyer-clients.

A Certified Distressed Property Expert® (CDPE) is a real estate professional with specific understanding of the complex issues confronting the real estate industry, and the foreclosure avoidance options available to homeowners. Through comprehensive training and experience, CDPE's are able to provide solutions for homeowners facing hardships in today’s market, specifically short sales.

The Residential Construction Certified (RCC) designation is recognized as one of the very best ever offered in real estate. The training covers architectural design and planning, blueprint reading, topography, building site design, evaluating quality construction, materials, methods, construction terminology and scheduling. I’ll be able to do a much better job of assisting anyone interested in a brand new or existing home. This knowledge provides a foundation that allows me to communicate more confidently and professionally with buyers, sellers, appraisers, inspectors, lenders, designers, engineers and construction professionals.

The Certified New Home Specialist designation covers a lot of the training in the Residential Construction Certified program, as well as, focusing on the marketing and sales of new construction homes.

The 203k Specialist designation is the most comprehensive training in the use of the U.S. Government’s FHA 203k Home Purchase and Renovation Loan program. With this designation, I becomes a member of RE-buildUSA, a nationwide organization of real estate, lending and home improvement professionals, working in partnership with Lowe’s, dedicated to helping more Americans achieve the dream of home ownership, improving our communities and contributing to the health of our economy.
